Artist's Comments

Background info: Coatlicue is a mythological character from Aztec legend, who represents their version of Mother Earth. Within her legend, she is said to have given birth to over 400 children and eventually those children began to plot against her... Upon her inching death a monster blew out from her stomach and killed all the children. (kind of a fast telling of the story, but you can look it up)

Anyway, with that background information I thought it was somewhat reminiscent of our current struggles with the environment; the consideration that with how much we mistreat the earth, it may only be increasing our punishment . Using various symbols throughout the work, I have taken both a hopeful and ominous approach to that theme -- with her prayer and sad eyes, juxtaposed against the foreshadowing of skulls and storms. There are more hints in the necklace and shirt as well....

Alright, I could ramble more but it just takes too long to explain everything... I'm going to leave it at that and maybe get through more with the comments. mhmm, quite lazy right now ^___~

I dont get a message out of it without the explanation, other than that it's clearly one of your best works.

Are you a millionaire yet???
