Artist's Comments

Phase Two of "Untitled LOVE project" has now arrived and thus a new painting had to be made for it. This time, still surrounding the theme of past relationships/heart breaks, we were asked to try something "experimental".
As far as style, I decided to combine the techniques of both my acrylic and watercolour/ink paintings to create something a little more unusual for me. I've wanted to get back to my ink works for awhile, but don't have the available space, so trying it on canvas was the next best thing.

The title was taken from "Schism", by Tool, because I wanted to keep in flow with my previous work in Phase One ~ [link]

Excellent use of color. Especialy on her skin tone. That blue-green and the purples on her brow add a wonderful touch of strange.

puffy, ephemeral hearts and bubbles...what a beautiful contrast to have a "real" heart, in such an undeniable dark shade.
this is a very good combination of your techniques! and i love the little fish in the corner, the top one seems so curious..

I have to say this isn't among my favorites from you. I like the style, but the design seems too "scattered" somehow and the small part of texture on the background makes me feel like it's unfinished.
