I have developed a habit of creating and destroying the symbols I use within my work.
Most recently I have used the "tube symbolism" in order to suggest something about self-communication; the physical and emotional aspects attached to it. This painting is meant to be a stepping stone into my next series by killing off the use of that particular symbol and inevitably creating something else... Though I haven't figured out what my next series will be.
symbolism is something so deep and interesting. i personally love to see symbolism like the one in your work, so very surrealistic yet somehow medival. i know i could express this better in spanish, but my point is that a good symbolism is the one that allows the person that sees the image to have a wide range of opitions. for instance the blindfold girl could be many different things for many different people, for me it makes me think about things she cant see but one coworker here said she thought that somebody blindfolded her, and a good friend of mine thinks she is hidding from herself...i have always thought that a good artist doent limitate his/hers work but that the work becomes something special and unique for each of the people that get to see it. (and this is just about the blindfold, not to mention the substance coming from her mouth and the wound in her chest)
i know this is random but i just wanted to share this thoughts...sorry for the big rant....
Oh, I love ranting and appreciate your ranting very much ^__^
It is always nice to have a bit of room to interpret within artwork and I am usually taught that it's best to give the viewer a taste, but not the whole damn pie. I do have a tendency at times to illustrate my ideas, but moving into symbolism allows me to keep a private meaning to the paintings I create, as well as allow some separate story to build for the viewer.
I'm not going to say exactly what the blindfold means to me, but all and every idea can be just as relevant to another. Thanks for the response ~ most awesome of you!
I like it... it's like the destruction of innocence and beauty. (thats not what I like) but it's a great painting, it portrays a great sense of loss to me... like the beauty of this world being destroyed.
That seems like a very dark piece compared to most of your other works. Reminds me of horror movies like Carrie. I like the atmosphere and the visual side, but I still think I prefer your other characters.

Be on the look out for things that make you laugh. If you see nothing worth laughing at, pretend you see it, then laugh.
